Things to Do in Amed
Amed is a loose string of fishing and salt-farming villages along Bali's northeast coast, and the pace is set by that history rather than by beach clubs or nightlife — it's a genuinely quiet corner of the island even by east Bali standards. The main draw is diving and snorkelling reachable by wading straight in from a handful of black-sand bays, plus proximity to Tulamben's well-known wreck dive a short distance up the coast. The drive out here from the south takes real time, which filters out day-trippers and rewards travellers who commit to staying a night or two rather than passing through. Salt farmers still work traditional evaporation troughs along parts of the shore, most visible in the early morning before the heat sets in. This isn't the place for an easy beach with clubs and shopping. Below are the top-rated diving, snorkelling and tours based in Amed.
