Things to Do in Uluwatu
Uluwatu sits on a limestone cliff at Bali's southern tip, and the setting does more work than the temple building itself: whitewashed shrines perched above a sheer drop to the ocean, with the evening Kecak fire dance performed right at the cliff edge as the sun goes down. Below the cliffs, a run of surf breaks with names like Padang Padang and Racetrack draws serious surfers chasing some of the island's most consistent swell, while a string of clifftop beach clubs and warungs cater to everyone else. The temple itself gets busy in the run-up to sunset, and the resident macaques near the entrance are opportunistic about sunglasses and loose bags, so keep valuables zipped away. It works well as a half-day trip for the temple and dance, or a longer stay if you're here to surf. Below are the top-rated tours covering both.
